So What Is Sea Moss About Anyway?

Sea Moss is an algae. It’s an edible seaweed that can be found growing on rocks at the bottom of an ocean. There are different types of sea moss, depending on what part of the world it’s grown at.  

One common type of Irish Sea Moss is found in the Atlantic coast of Ireland and got its name during the potato famine in Ireland back in the 1840’s. The people were starving and desperate for food and nutrients, began eating the algae that was on the rocks in the ocean. They say, this is was then when the Irish discovered that sea moss was a superfood source with enough nutritional value to suite their needs.  


Sea Moss has 92 of the 102 essential minerals that our bodies may need, making the benefits of sea moss to be endless!  Some of  the benefits include:
